President of INCSIDA, I.P : “Tattoos Can Be a Risk for HIV-AIDS”

(Dili)– Balide-President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS, Public Institute (INCSIDA, I.P) Daniel Marçal said, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that can attack and make people’s immune system down and even death.

“In the context of (HIV) I think many people already know because the virus can be spread from one person to another, spread by blood and one can also spread by instruments such as needles and tattoos that people use to exchange needles puncture people and other instruments that cause bleeding from one person to another. Said the President (INSCIDA I.P) in the Media Change studio after finishing the talkshow “Time to Talk Media Change” recently.

He added that the HIV-AIDS virus while it can also be spread through sexual intercourse that is not free from people and to others (change partners), but when having sexual intercourse with someone who likes to enter the risk.

“Usually only two one is transmitted from blood one is transmitted from sexual intercourse, one can be transmitted from mother to child if the mother is infected (HIV) will be transmitted to the child, if when a mother gets (HIV) will transmit back to the child, if the mother during her pregnancy she does not control and she does not know the status (HIV) during pregnancy. aunt she does not know she breastfeeds the baby is very risky because a mother is positive (HIV) she does not take medicine and she does not do treatment is a great possibility to transmit the virus to the baby.

He stressed that education is an important part for everyone because the virus (HIV) is a major risk to people’s lives, while INCSIDA, IP’s role is how to socialize to the community to understand the transmission of the virus.

“We see the community understands about (HIV-AIDS), they go to do activities in the field, the community is very enthusiastic.

Meanwhile, he asked the community to do blood tests to know each person’s status, while many communities will be ashamed when doing blood tests, so he still challenges the community especially to young people because the HIV-AIDS virus is a risk to the world and Timor-Leste.
