(Díli) Fomentu ll- President of the Republic (PR), José Ramos-Horta, asked Institute of Business (IOB) students to study hard to master languages such as Portuguese and English including other languages to be able to get scholarships and study abroad
“I ask students to study hard and learn more to learn mathematics and also learn Portuguese and English including other languages to get good grades to be invited to study abroad, because many Timorese are now teachers and doctors in many countries or abroad”, said President of the Republic (PR), José, Ramos Horta to journalists at auditorium of Institute Of Business (IOB) 08/07/2025.
PR said, Timor-Leste has many opportunities so students must be eligible to meet the criteria that are required, because Timor-Leste has bilateral relations between many countries especially developed countries to give opportunities to students to learn in other countries.
“I ask parents and teachers to encourage students to study hard and learn a lot, one day they can implement what they have learned, because before our leaders learned a little and always faced many challenges, because we fight with our enemies”, said PR
The President of the Republic added that many Timorese are now educated in other countries, in the past Timor-Leste had no conditions and situation to allow its citizens to study, because of the difficult situation, while young people to study but because Timor-Leste was illegally invaded for 24 years.
“Today we are free to learn a lot, because Timor-Leste has many changes and now we have technology to take advantage of to study and adapt many technologies and students must learn a lot about the area of Agriculture, Medicine, Education and Digitalization”, concluded President of the Republic (PR), José Ramos-Horta
