KJTL GROUP: “Garbage is not an enemy but a friend”, Transform Garbage into Beautiful Objects and Prevent Dili from Flooding

(Dili), Fatuhada 02- Contansio Neno president of Creativity Youth Timor Leste (acronym-KJTL) Group said the recycling industry is a means to prevent flooding and promote biodiversity.

President of Timor Leste Youth Creativity (KJTL) Contansio Neno affirms, the group was established in 2019, recycling such as oil glass bottle into flowers and through this small recycling industry is to prevent floods that always happen in the capital Dili.

“We know that recycling is from garbage, we created this group because every year the capital Dili always floods, as well as our sea and environment in Dili is full of garbage,” said President of KJTL Group Constansio to Media Mudansa journalist recently at his industrial site Fatu-hada, Dili.

Contansio Neno said, KJTL Group came with its motto that “garbage is not an enemy but garbage is a friend” with this context motivates KJTL group to transform garbage into beautiful decorative equipment, so that from materials that have no value from the eyes of people can be seen as a new products that people can use again.

The President stressed that, during this time KJTL group has participated in the exhibition held by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) and through that, the group also had the opportunity to promote their recycling products that they have been doing.

“Since the establishment of KJTL group , we have always making an effort to enter all ministries especially in MCI to promote our products,” he stressed

The President underlined that the production of recycling is not only promoted in Timor but has reached neighboring countries such as Indonesia, especially in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) and they will continue to find ways to promote their products to the international level.

“Our strategy is not only to do in Timor but one or two of our teams have entered Indonesia, our neighboring country, especially in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to promote our production and we will continue to find ways to go international,” he reinforced.

Contansio added, the challenge that KJTL Group faces is difficult to access the national and international market because during this time there is no specific place for them to sell products, while the group is waiting for some event to sell the products they have.

“Our concern is the place, if there is a place we can sell our products because during this time only waiting for events or exhibition,” He concerned

On the other hand, Director of the National Directorate of Industrial Development (DNDI) Emanuel de Araujo Mendonsa said, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) through the National Directorate of Industrial Development (DNDI)’s role is to promote the commercial sector and industries. Therefore, industrialization is an essential part to help the economic sector to contribute to the national development.

“Our policy is how to promote the commercial sector and industries, we see many activities that MCI and also put in the ministry’s program, because this industry is very important to our country and provide economic benefits to the country, in addition to creating jobs and benefit the family economy,” he said.

Director DNDI thanked the KJTL Group for taking the initiative to transform recycled products into new valuable products, and MCI will consider these creativities through material and financial support.

“We are grateful to the youth who have good ideas on how to transform waste into valuable items. Whatever activities they do when MCI has data can encourage or motivate them to increase their production to contribute to the economic and social aspects,” he concluded.
