Díli, Taibesi 19 March 2026 – Vendors in Taibesi Market, face difficulties every day because the facility is broken, this situation causes great concern and affects their health and condition when selling.
According to street vendors, Bento de Deus, said, the toilet facilities available in Taibesi market are broken and the conditions are not good to use, this situation not only causes discomfort to vendors, but also affects their daily work.
“When we need to use the toilet, thank you we have to use the community’s toilet, which needs to pay money in the amount of $ 0.50 centavus to $ 1.50 centavus, with this condition, we feel increased burden on us,” said street vendor Bento de Deus in Taib market recently.
Street vendors reported that the facility has been in poor condition for many years, although a company recently came to repair it, but until now it has not been completed and abandoned, the main concern for vendors is about access to water and sanitation, which is very important to support their daily activities.
On the other hand, Florinda de Deus, as a community added that, indeed the toilet facility in Taibesi market is broken and the condition is not affordable, and vendors have to pay when using the toilet in the community.
Meanwhile, the head of Lahane Oriental, Trindade do Amaral Pinto Baptista, said that he has been observing this problem for a long time, and considers that the management of the facility by the municipality is not efficient.
“There have been attempts by a company to improve, but the problem remains. This shows that the management and control system is not working properly,” said Lahane Oriental District Chief, Trindade do Amaral Pinto Baptista
The head of the village said that the careless use of the facility contributed to the poor conditions. Therefore, it calls for better control by market authorities as well as awareness by users.
“I suggest to organize the vendors better, so as not to make the market too crowded and give space to consumers to buy with comfort”, The village chief informs
Related to this concern, the chief manager of Taibesi Market, Aníbal de Jesus, said that the bathroom facilities in the market are currently totally damaged, and this situation has a big impact on all vendors and buyers.
“The management has written to the superiors to ask for rehabilitation in the future. Although the government has built a new facility before, but the problem arises because of the unconscious use of some people, and also the lack of control and security for this place”. The Chief Manager of Taibesi Market concluded.
Meanwhile, the Chief Manager of Taibesi Market, also asked the government not only to rehabilitate, but also need to monitor and ensure a security mechanism, so that the bathroom facility can be used properly and sustainably for all vendors and buyers.
